When can I start the online training (Part A) and how long does it take to complete? You can start the online course immediately upon enrolling and return to it any time. The online course takes approximately 16 hours to complete. How do I register for the live virtual session (Part B) and how often are these scheduled? You will be able to see the calendar of upcoming live virtual sessions (Part B) and enroll from your learning dashboard. Part B sessions are generally scheduled twice per month, more frequently during peak training times. If you cannot find a Part B session that works for you there is the option to request a private session for an additional fee. Is AquaTech recognized and approved in my U.S. location for pool operator certification requirement? In the United States, the AquaTech training course meets or exceeds all guidelines for qualified operator training courses in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Model Aquatic Health Code (MAHC). The AquaTech course is considered equivalent to the Certified Pool Operator (CPO) and Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certifications. However, your local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), such as the local health department or other swimming pool regulatory agency may have specific requirements for course approval. How long will I have access to the course content? 5 years - the duration of your certification period. What organization is behind AquaTech and who are its authors? AquaTech is a program developed and operated by the Starfish Aquatics Institute (SAI). Founded in 1999, SAI is internationally recognized for its quality programs in aquatic safety, swimming instruction, lifeguard training, and pool and aquatic facility operations. The initial AquaTech content was developed through the Aquatic Education Division of Human Kinetics publishers in 2005 by a Program Advisory Committee (PAC) consisting of leading aquatic professionals, including: * Robert Burrows, Surewater Technologies * Tom Carrico, Carrico Aquatics * Robert Clayton †, Aquatic Partners (deceased) * Juliene Hefter, Wisconsin Parks & Recreation Association (now Association of Aquatic Professionals - AOAP) * Mick Nelson, USA Swimming (now Total Aquatic Programming -TAP) * Jill White, Starfish Aquatics Institute (SAI) * Kent Williams, Professional Pool Operators of America Since its initial development, AquaTech has gone through several revisions to keep up with industry standards. Choose this course if you are a first-time applicant for AqP Designation and need to complete the required elective CEUs online AND / OR you do not have a current Instructor certification. Become a designated Aquatic Professional with the AqP Designation by the Association of Aquatic Professionals. The AqP Designation sets you apart and brings you into an exclusive network of professionals who have shown their commitment to aquatic education, certification and professional development and sets them apart from other aquatic professionals. Because you are completing all CEU requirements via vetted AOAP webinars, the pre-requisite requirement for an instructor certification has been waived. AqP Requirements for applicants who complete all CEU requirements via Splash-EDU include: Prerequisites Be a current member of the Association of Aquatic Professionals and maintain membership throughout your designation period. If you are not a current AOAP member, choose the Non-Member option to register and receive a one-year AOAP membership as part of your registration.
