How long is the AquaTech certification valid? 5 years.
When can I start the online training (Part A) and how long does it take to complete? You can start the online course immediately upon enrolling and return to it any time. The online course takes approximately 16 hours to complete.
How do I register for the live virtual session (Part B) and how often are these scheduled? You will be able to see the calendar of upcoming live virtual sessions (Part B) and enroll from your learning dashboard. Part B sessions are generally scheduled twice per month, more frequently during peak training times. If you cannot find a Part B session that works for you there is the option to request a private session for an additional fee.
Is AquaTech recognized and approved in my U.S. location for pool operator certification requirement? In the United States, the AquaTech training course meets or exceeds all guidelines for qualified operator training courses in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Model Aquatic Health Code (MAHC). The AquaTech course is considered equivalent to the Certified Pool Operator (CPO) and Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO) certifications. However, your local Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), such as the local health department or other swimming pool regulatory agency may have specific requirements for course approval. How long will I have access to the course content? 5 years - the duration of your certification period.
What organization is behind AquaTech and who are its authors? AquaTech is a program developed and operated by the Starfish Aquatics Institute (SAI). Founded in 1999, SAI is internationally recognized for its quality programs in aquatic safety, swimming instruction, lifeguard training, and pool and aquatic facility operations.
The initial AquaTech content was developed through the Aquatic Education Division of Human Kinetics publishers in 2005 by a Program Advisory Committee (PAC) consisting of leading aquatic professionals, including:
